楚喬傳

While watching the epic scene from 楚喬傳, we noticed that towards the end, tears had welled up in the kid's eyes.  Then after the mom's sacrifice towards the end/start of the next episode, he was literally balling.   Took about 20 minutes before he's able to calm down.  Didn't realize a proper tragedy could evoke such emotions from the kid!

Greyhound

Greyhound, starring Tom Hanks, came out recently on Apple TV+.  We decided to watch it, and introduce a bit of WWII events to the kid.   During the scene where the Canadian corvette, HMCS Dodge, codenamed Dickie, came up... the kid grinned and said: "Dickie?  You know... "   haha

We've recently picked up Valkyrie Chronicles for the Nintendo Switch, making our way through the various operations.   Incidentally, kid and I were excited to see the Sherman Tank on display outside the Haliburton Branch #129 of the Royal Canadian Legion!

Me: "Hey, look at that!"
Kid: "Enemy tank spotted!   It's the Edelweiss!  No wait, it's not blue!!"

Good times! :D

Girl to Woman

Kid asked me what 3 letter word makes a girl become a woman?   It was a riddle for a game he was playing.   Many possibilities here!   30 minutes later, he came back and said he figured it out.   AGE! Makes perfect sense :)

Sphinx

While at a travel agency, I picked up a flyer for a tour of Egypt featuring a photo of the Giant Sphinx.  The kid knew the Sphynx through Super Mario Odyssey, as the NPC that moves around different kingdoms asking quiz questions to Mario.   When he saw the flyer, he was astounded... "You mean this Sphinx is REAL!?!"   Yes son, let's go visit the real ones one day.
