I stopped by the community library today to return a book. While parked at the drop off loop, I noticed the sign instructing drivers not to leave their cars idling for more than 3 minutes.
I normally do not idle my car for too long; not because I am environmentally friendly, but because I do not like wasting gas. However, in the winter, my car needs to warm up. It is only 30 seconds to a major road where I'll be driving 70km/h. If my engine is not warm enough by then, the rev's will be quite high - I fear that I will cause irreparable damage to my engine. :|
So, I guess many a times, I do inadvertently leave my car idling longer than allowed by the bylaws. :(
